My name is Ian and I have been a massage therapist for fifteen years. Massage is one of the oldest forms of well-being known to man, the first records of it being practised being found in from China and Egypt over two thousand years ago; the first written massage therapy traditions compiled around 1500 years BC in India, and are the basis for what is now more commonly known as the Swedish Massage. The term Swedish Massage Therapy was first used in 1878 by Dutch practitioner Johan Georg Mezger, who also the applied the five basic techniques which are still used today.

Massage is scientifically proven to be an effective treatment for a number of medical conditions. It can assist in the relief of stress as well as reducing feelings of anxiety, depression and general malaise. After a massage, those finding it difficult to sleep will often feel more relaxed and comfortable and able to sleep more easily. Many conditions can be improved by receiving a regular massage.
